Environmental, Social, and Governance

Our Values

At DocuSign we live by these values - Trust, Customer Focus, Simplicity, Innovation, Unity, and Sustainability. In addition to making the world more agreeable, DocuSign is dedicated to making our business a positive force for our customers, our employees, our communities, and our environment. We have several initiatives and strategies in place that reflect our core values and commitment to upholding our corporate responsibilities.

SUSTAINABILITY

At DocuSign, our goal is to promote environmental sustainability throughout our business globally, including our operations, our sourcing practices, and our products. We are committed to being more agreeable towards the environment—from enabling customers with paperless processes to investing directly in organizations that are making a sustainable impact. It is also up to each of us, as individuals, to make small changes in our daily behaviors to slow the effects of climate change and preserve our environment.

As part of our ongoing efforts, DocuSign has recently made the commitment to being carbon neutral by the calendar year 2022 and will look to reduce overall business air travel. We believe there is an opportunity to reimagine how business gets done in the future – less commuting, a smaller office footprint and fewer flights would not only be easier on the environment, but could also lead to greater productivity and more job satisfaction for our employees.

DOCUSIGN FOR FORESTS

At the beginning of 2019, we launched the DocuSign for Forests™ initiative to help protect and preserve the world’s forests. We have provided major financial commitments to supporting non-profits that are doing critical work to protect the world’s forests. We continue to help our customers improve their environmental and paper-use practices by moving more of their legacy processes onto DocuSign platform and have added an environmental impact calculator into our core eSignature product.

This lets senders and signers see how they—and DocuSign—are reducing waste and positively impacting the environment. Since 2003, DocuSign has helped hundreds of millions of people around the world to replace over 20 billion sheets of paper with digital processes that do not require paper. Together, we have preserved over 2.5 million trees and 2.5 billion gallons of water required to make paper.

DOCUSIGN IMPACT

The DocuSign IMPACT Foundation reflects DocuSign’s commitment to make our business a force for good by deploying our people, our products, and our philanthropy in communities around the world. Our employees are encouraged to make an impact by volunteering with organizations and for causes they believe in, and we are proud to support that action by providing up to 24 hours of Volunteer Time Off (VTO) a year for these pursuits. Since the launch of DocuSign IMPACT in 2015, DocuSign employees have logged over 50,000 hours of volunteer service on company time through our VTO program—that’s over 6,000 days of service.

We also match our employee donations through the DocuSign IMPACT Matching Gifts Program, which has made contributions to almost 2,000 different organizations around the world. Finally, we have made millions of dollars’ worth of in-kind product donations to thousands of non-profits around the world to help these community-focused organizations move offline processes into the cloud. These are organizations that span the spectrum of impact—like Techbridge Girls who help girls in under-served schools get access to world-class STEM education in the SF Bay Area and Seattle, and Vegan Friendly, a nonprofit that promotes the vegan lifestyle in Israel.
